777 International Mall Offsite
28 SE 1st Avenue
Presented by Tschabalala Self and Fringe Projects
Tschabalala Self’s newest addition to her Bodega Run project, and her first installation outside a gallery or museum context, Lucky Me! represents a conflation of art object and popular commodity.
Staged inside Downtown Miami’s Lee’s Oriental Market & Deli, the focal point of Self's installation is a neon sculpture in the shop’s window, accompanied by a patterned floor installation and custom wallpaper. The work is designed to draw attention to a local POC-owned business and illuminate the function of ethnicity and race within transactional space.
